Warm sunshine, clear skies, fresh spring air and birds singing greeted us on Easter Sunday. There was so much to be thankful for on this day we celebrate the Spirit of Christ arising in the hearts and souls of his faithful followers. There was food for the body, heart, mind and soul and beautiful people from various circles and statures to commemorate this day.

Our program was rich with speeches and entertainment sustaining the new display on Doukhobor music (Audio Visual Room). We were blessed with the wise words of many. The ever inspiring J.J. Verigin, the lovely Frances Kanigan, (whose speech was enlightening and reminescent), Mayor Lawrence Chernoff, Alex Attamanenko, Mayor Griff Welsh, Alex Wishlow, Fred Makortoff, Pat Picton and Robert Ewashen. The congregational singing was uplifting and harmonious as was the fabulous Tri choir, The Ewashen Brothers, Netta Florette/ Toinya Marie and Classical Guitar Player, Angello Sammartino.

Amidst fragrant flowers, we feasted on fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese, crackers delicious desserts all donated by local food stores and The Bistro.

We are thankful for the many vounteers, such as Katimavik, for their willingness to contribute their time and energy. They were instrumental in cleaning and bringing out Verigin’s Phaeton (1918 Buick Carriage).

Thank you to all the people who joined us in celebration and we look forward to more celebrations and visits with you all.
