Columbia Power Corporation’s Wally Penner is a key player in the latest significant land scaping project at the Doukhobor Discovery Centre.

Columbia Power donated about $20,000. worth of the decorative stones and assisted Paul Markin in making the delivery to the Discovery Centre grounds.

Two excavators were provided by Markin Construction and a truck load of used tires were provided by Kal Tire. These tires were placed on the access road to the museum and the excavator ‘walked’ on the tires to protect the pavement while placing the rock.
The row of large rock will serve two purposes, according to Larry Ewashen, Curator of the Discovery Centre. They will beautify the road into the Discovery Centre but will also prevent cars from parking on one side of the Discovery Centre, thus preventing damage to the irrigation lines.

Columbia Power Corporation's Wally Penner, Cham Road Constuction's Paul Markin, and the Doukhobor Discovery Centre's curator, Larry Ewashen stand in front of the 'Peace Dove' tulip bed. To their right, the bolder line along the road. The Doukhobor Discovery Centre is very grateful to all of the parties concerned who gave their time and resources to make this project possible. The Discovery Centre and its grounds are becoming more beautiful each year and it is a site that the entire community can be proud of, largely due to such community efforts.
